The laser in dentistry adds quality to the existing treatment by making it quick, painless, minimally invasive, and bloodless. In addition to that, post-treatment healing is also faster than traditional treatment.
Laser is “Light Amplification by the Stimulated Emission of Radiation.” Don’t worry, let us explain this complicated term to you. The laser does two things: first, it stimulates atoms or molecules to emit light at a particular wavelength (stimulated emission), and second, it amplifies it (light amplification). The result is a very narrow beam of radiation at a required wavelength. This narrow beam of light (radiation) is useful in dental treatment.
The energy delivered by laser in form of light is used in surgical procedures and photobiomodulation. During the surgical procedure, the laser acts as a cutting instrument or a vaporizer of tissue and during photobiomodulation (PBM) it stimulates, heals, regenerates, and protects tissue that has either been injured, or is degenerating, or else is at risk of dying.
Laser is also useful in Photodynamic therapy (PDT) which involves the use of photosensitizer with a laser in presence of oxygen. With PDT we can treat oral cancer, bacterial and fungal infection, etc.
Different types of tissues in the mouth absorb the different wavelengths of light hence we have two main types of laser: hard and soft tissue laser.
Soft tissue lasers are used to cut soft tissues, seal blood vessels, etc. Some of the applications are treating restricted tongue and lip movement (tongue and lip tie), disinfection and healing of pocket, aesthetics and cosmetic procedures, etc.
Hard tissue lasers are used for teeth. It can cut through bone and water. The most common applications are the detection of cavities, tooth sensitivity treatment, and preparation of teeth for dental procedures.
Due to its immense benefits, laser technology is now widely used in dentistry. It improves the quality and comfort in the dental treatment of your child.
Minimal Invasive and bloodless dental surgeries: This is one of the major advantages of using laser for kids’ dental procedures as it eliminates the need for a knife and makes the whole procedure bloodless and minimal to no invasion. Hence it also eliminates the need for sutures.
Painless: It makes the procedure painless and in most cases, even anesthesia is not required. This is very helpful in treating kids.
Quick: Laser treatments are quicker than traditional surgeries hence one of the best options for kids with limited coping ability.
Faster and Better Healing: Due to its non-invasive nature the damage to tissues is very less hence the post-treatment healing is quick.
Reduce the risk of infection: The laser sterilizes the treatment area and reduces the risk of infection.
We use the most versatile dual-wavelength laser machine capable of dental surgeries, Photobiomodulation (PBM), and Photodynamic therapy (PDT). Click here to read more about it
Endodontic Treatment: Disinfection of root canal.
Surgical Treatment: Lip tie, tongue tie, mucocele, operculectomy and most of the other minor oral surgical procedures.

Photobiomodulation (PBM): Healing of aphthous ulcer, a traumatic ulcer caused by orthodontic treatment, post-extraction socket healing, treatment of oral malignant lesions, accelerated orthodontic treatment.
